HCG in Weight Loss

You could certainly say there is some controversy over HCG in weight loss. As with many things in life, controversy often comes from simply not understanding or learning about something.

One of the best ways to truly learn the correct information about HCG and weight loss is to read Dr. Simeons’ book “Pounds and Inches: A New Approach to Obesity.” Dr. Simeons’ book is based on decades of research on the effects of HCG and weight loss.

Some detractors believe that the results of the diet come from simply restricting calories to 500 a day. The fact is that most people would be tired and weak trying to survive on just 500 calories a day. They would experience headaches, and it would be hard to stay motivated for very long because they would be STARVING!

Dieters who follow the HCG diet protocol rave about the fact that they are NOT hungry. They are also not tired or weak – in fact many report feeling better than they have for years. The weight loss that they see happening every day actually keeps them motivated.

The key is using the HCG along WITH the 500 a day calorie diet, as well as eating the specific foods that make up the 500 calories. The HCG signals the hypothalamus to release and mobilize abnormal stored fat - between 3000 and 4000 calories a day. The calories you need to feel full come from this stored fat that is released.

The result is that you feel full, even though you are eating less. This would not be possible on the 500 calorie a day diet alone. It is very important that you follow Dr. Simeons’ HCG protocol as written and eat just the foods that are allowed for your 500 calorie diet. Do not be tempted to cheat on this diet. Cheating will cause your weight loss to stall and could affect your ability to stabilize at your new weight.

Another misconception with HCG and weight loss is that when you quit taking the HCG, you will simply gain back the weight. If you are following the protocol, that will not happen. There are strict guidelines for the maintenance phase of the diet. The exciting thing is that when you do follow the protocol, your metabolism is reset at a higher rate. This helps sustain your weight loss even when you stop taking the HCG and increase your calories. Your body will burn excess instead of store it as fat.

There are two options when taking HCG for weight loss. You can inject yourself with the HCG, or you can take the homeopathic HCG drops sublingually (under the tongue). Both methods are equally effective. Those who have tried both the shots and the homeopathic drops know there is no difference in outcome – just a huge difference in price, as the shots are very expensive!

Understanding HCG in weight loss comes down to knowing the facts, not listening to uneducated or inexperienced opinions. You can reach your weight loss goals when you educate yourself and follow the protocol. You only have fat to lose!
